  • Operation:  Boob Reduction

Boobs, boobs, boobs.  My friend went under the knife last week and got hers chopped down/reduced/smaller whatever you want to call it.   Everyone seems to want bigger or perkier boobs, but I now know one person who wanted the opposite.

My friend isn’t chunky, curvy or big boned.  She’s a slender 5’7″ girl with boobs that are probably ”D” or “DD” size (Just a guess, I never checked the tag or came close to that).  She’s very pretty and under 25 years of age.  Some people would die for that kind of set up.

I haven’t seen her since the surgery, she’s out of commission for a week or so.  I don’t know what she went down to.  If you could choose, what would be the perfect size for you to wear around?  B?  B+?  C?  Other?  She texted and told me after she got it done.  I know she had thought about it before but I didn’t think she would actually do it.  Now she should be able to do things like jog!

I remember talking about breast surgery with one of my girl friends.  Most girls have flashed a thought of a lift or an increase even if they don’t need it, but reduction?  My girl friend said, “I think the reduction would be tough, it’s so much more invasive and leaves way more scars.  If your friend is thinking about it, tell her to check out pictures of people who have done it, or tell her to ask past patients if they recommend it.”

Breast implants can leave scars, but usually you just get one set of scars right?  Either under the armpit, under the breast, through the stomach/belly button area, or through the nipple right?   In reduction I think they have to cut you up everywhere.  There’s usually a big line scar down that cuts on top of or below your nipple, then they might have to go into your armpit and do some lift and or cut through there to reduce the excess skin, then they might also have to cut under the breast to remove skin there too.

Personally, I don’t care what size a person’s breasts are.  Sure it would be nice to have some padding there, but if she’s small, she’s small.  If she’s big, she’s big.  If she’s too big and she’s having back pain, shoulder pain and headaches, I might not love the scarring, but I’d want her to be less burdened.  Then on the other hand, there are some people that want the biggest breasts in the world.  We all know how that works, there’s no stopping them.

My female cousin used to always say to me, “Anything more than a handful is a waste.”  They should put that in fortune cookies.  Then at least everyone at the table would get one.

    1. At what point/size would breasts be too big and too much hassle?
    2. What if you had no back pain and they were just big?   The doctor tells you will have very visible scarring if you go through with it… what is worse, being a little big, or having major scarring?  Would scarring deter you from getting reduction surgery?

  • one of my (black) girl friends got hers reduced because they were giving her back problems.. she tells me all the time that she envies asian-sized boobies, while i tell her all the time how lucky she is to be bootylicious… we always want what’s on the other side!

  • 1. i think Ds on a person of any size is pretty big.

    2. if i had no health issues, probably not.  not becasue of the scarring, but because i’m afraid of surgery.

  • big is relative to the body, but if it compromises health and comfort, then i think a reduction is a valid option. i like boobies, but i like it in proportion to the rest of the body. if a tiny little girl pops out with d’s then its just ridiculous.

  • I think large B or small C is a good size. If I was having back problems with my breasts I would definitely get a reduction. Luckily I am a typical Asian girl and that is not an issue…

  • @jillstarr - One of my co-workers is black and they are so huge, I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone.  I swear, she’s probably LL or something like that.  She’s a big boned woman, probably 250 lbs, I would guess that her breasts probably weigh 40-50 lbs.  They are literally the size of two full size watermelons.  I really don’t know how she does it… I’d be afraid for the effects on my back, hip, legs.

@MuseErato - Oh yeah, I didn’t think of surgery being a fear.   One of my really good friends, she’s a petite 5’2″ Asian girl, probably about 100 lbs and she has natural D’s.  On a 5’6″ girl they would probably be considered C’s, but because her frame is smaller, I guess they get moved up a class.  Her’s are manageable.  She runs marathons, just has to double up on the jog bras.

@HushNowLuv - See my Muse answer.

@miss_prettyinpink - Haha, but typical Asian girls have different concerns, like getting double eyelid surgery!  I think everyone wants B’s or C’s for the purpose of filling out their dresses… but, smaller is definitely easier.

  • There isn’t a really way for them to go with no back pain. It might be proportionate to the rest of their body or their weight so it can’t be that bad but even then, I know it warps the spine after a while. This is from knowing a female with D’s. She feels the relief when she can afford to hit the chiropractor. But her butt sticks out and I’ve seen her naked. There’s an almost sharp dip in her back and I think it’s from leaning back.

One of my former high school classmates has double D’s and even though she’s tall and exercises regularly, stretches regularly, it bothers her. She never ever noticed at all because it’s something she’s use to until… maybe 3-4 years ago? To accompany the girl mentioned above, in my first paragraph, she splurged and decided to see if she has any kinks in her to work out. (She’s an accountant and only went to school for it to save up loads of money and jumpstart her own singing career without her meddling parents.) After that sessions, she can feel the difference now but she went through the first 21 years of her life not knowing any better. It can be a problem, even if it doesn’t feel like it is.

  • @Vitamin_D - Good point, we adapt to our bodies, and what’s normal for us might not be considered medically normal, especially posture wise.  I have a very, very mild scoliosis in my back or neck…  I think it came from having to support my hard head.  One thing good posture does… it opens up our breathing… that’s very noticeable, once treatment starts.

  • i think it looks fine if the boobies are proportion to the size of the body. Plus if youre big and got big boobies, you have the rest of your weight to hold up those watermelons. now on the other hand if you’re petite and you have anything larger than a C, it looks way bigger than it really is. Plus, it’ll hurt your back. in any case, you should be happy with what you have. if you’re not, i guess surgery could be an option.
